SATC Fans, Start Your Shakers....

In anticipation of the release of Sex and the City 2 Somer Perez of The Empire Lobby Bar in New York City created this fabulous cocktail as a part of a specialty cocktail menu. And.... it includes a Pinot Noir topper. Which is why it's named after my favorite character. (Because, let's face it.... Aidan again? Really, Carrie? Really?)

The Miranda

Ingredients:
2 oz Bluecoat Gin
1 oz Lemon Puree
1/2 oz Simple Syrup
1 oz Lillet Blanc
2 oz Pinot Noir

Preparation:
1. In a mixing glass, combine all ingredients other than wine.
2. Shake and strain into a highball filled with ice.
3. Float the wine on top so the drink is layered

Memorial Day - It's Officially Summer!

To kick off the three-day weekend check out Colleen's recommendations at cocktails.about.com for summer drinks, party tips and more. I've listed a few sweet and soothing recipes below, perfect for sipping outdoors on a sunny day (which will be, of course, the entire weekend.... crossing fingers....).

Bed of Roses
Don't let the Jagermeister scare you off! This is actually a very refreshing libation.

Ingredients:
1 1/2 parts Jägermeister
2 parts lemon juice
1 part grenadine syrup
1/2 part lime juice
lime slice for garnish
cherry for garnish

Preparation:
Combine and shake all ingredients over ice. Strain into cocktail or highball glass. Add a slice of lime and cherry to garnish.

Bee Tea
In honor of one of my favorite summertime-beverage-enjoying-friends, a guy who knows his honey-flavored liqueurs, this cool cocktail is perfect with homemade iced tea and doesn't require any added sugar.

Ingredients:
1 part Bärenjäger
2 parts fresh brewed tea
lemon wedge for garnish

Preparation:
Fill a highball glass with ice. Pour in the Bärenjäger and fill the glass with fresh brewed tea. Garnish with a lemon wedge. Enjoy on a porch somewhere.
