Bounce to Chilkoot Charlie's tonight for AK Soul's third annual Scandal Party featuring DJ Systematic and DJ Solo, the high-energy go-go dancers of Charlie's Dolls, and a pack of lovely, scantily clad ladies from Run to the Sun tanning salon.
The salon is celebrating 20 years in Anchorage and its owners have sold the business and are heading out of state. Since the salon has worked closely with promotions group AK Soul on so many events, AK Soul is using this Scandal Night to celebrate the passing of the ownership torch, said Kurt Bunde, one of AK Soul's front men.
"And it's also an excuse to party and have fun," Kurt said.
The Scandal Night party will include the Run to the Sun babes modeling lingerie and Halloween costumes from The Look. AK Soul will dole out tons of prizes, including signature merchandise, stuff from the tanning salon and The Look, poker sets, a snowboard, and even some coveted Koots Platinum Cards -- the pass that always lets you skip the bar's line and its cover charge.
Creative fashion has become a staple of the Scandal Night gatherings, with outfits becoming more like costumes. Men have arrived in Hugh Hefner-inspired ensembles and tuxedos. Women wear everything from evening gowns to racy negligees. As Kurt put it, "it's girl-next-door scandalous, but not trashy."
The party starts at 10 p.m. on Koots' south side and it costs $10 to get in.
