It amazes me how many do not know about much about the dividend and how the oil profits are distributed and how the fund is handled/distributed.

Why not answer the charges instead of attacking, and lashing out at us personally.

Doesn't make you any less guilty, just shifts the focus off you and your wrong doings.

The facts are, everyone makes loads of money off the PFD except the people who need it.

What is wrong with you people whining over ONLY $1100! Not one of you deserves this money! The land isn't yours and you do not deserve to be "rewarded" for exploiting public property. AND, you receive more money per capita in federal dollars than any other state because you cry poor to Uncle Ted and yet you all collect PFD money for your Hawaiian vacations and big screen tvs. You refuse to pay taxes necessary for proper law enforcement and, big surprise, the headline today is that women are slain at a higher rate here than anywhere else. A fool and his money are soo parted and the day will come when Alaskans wish they had invested their resources and money more wisely.

Do Nothings?

You are right, the land isn't ours. Who says we deserve the PFD, I look at it as a blessing. I live on a fixed income because I have worked manual labor jobs in Alaska since I was 15 and now am paying for it through several medical problems that were caused by these jobs. Jobs that helped make the rich richer. I didn't make alot of money in my life but I did and still do pay taxes.
It's the people who moved up here just to get the PFD that you are talking about..not me and others like myself. I for one am grateful for the extra income as now I can pay some bills. Did you apply for the PFD? Do you vote? Think about it, not all of us are "greedy, selfish, do-nothings".

Are you even aware how the PFD works? Your comments seem steeped in ignorance and, dare I say it, jealousy.

Only a fraction of the Permanent Fund's profits every year are paid out to Alaskans. The rest of the money goes back into the Permanent Fund.

As far as as 'paying paxes necessary for proper law enforcement' goes, Anchorage, at least, has stratospheric property taxes. The outlying communities (Eagle River, Plamer, Wasilla, etc.) aren't much lower. Where do you think that money goes?

Tell you what. Try living in Alaska, where cost of living is high and wages are not, then get back to me.

Record profits for Oil Companies = Small Dividends

What a dissapointment, $1100. I'm waiting for the news story to pop out and 'explain' why they are so small. One thing to rememebr, the PFD is the interest earned from investments. The stock market wasn't that strong this year and maybe the firm that manages the money made some rather poor decisions. Too bad they didn't place all that money into Google stock, dividends would be like $10K had they done that.

Actually the fund is invested in a variety of ways. The stock market is one. When you look at the average over 5yrs thats PFD's get kicked down a bit.

Don't stress, PFD's will bounce back.

PFD deductions

How many of you know that on your check stub, there will be a deduction taken out that will have initials similar to FS HH, or Food Stamps Hold Harmless?

We are paying for the those who get Food Stamps--so that the Feds will continue to give them despite the extra earnings in the month received. We are actually paying for a public assistance program with our money. Something to think about.

Would you consider feeding the hungry at your home or paying extra to feed the hungry?
Or are you just ignorant. Most people on food stamps lose most of them when the PFD's come out.
Be informed. Someday you might end up on food stamps as anything can happen at any time and you will have no option.

blueslivin is uninformed, people who receive food stamps do not lose any of their food stamp benefits. Its called pfd hold harmless. They get the same food stamp amount just in the form of cash instead of food stamps. Dont comment of something you dont know anything about!

PFD

We're getting robbed folks. Every person in Alaska should be getting over 2 grand a peice. Everyone makes out but us , suckers that we are.

The interest alone a year is over 2 mil, they put in one billion.... yes folks that's billion, in just one quarter, that's profit.

Our State Government is stealing money out the back door every day and don't tell us. Remember we voted no to that.

The firm who handles the fund pays its self over 300 mil a year.
The last PFD Director,(who left 3 years ago)only managed the Fund for 5 years payed himself a 30 mil severance package.

BP gets away with out paying enough taxes on the oil, our oil, every single day.

So every one make lots of money off the fund every year , but us. Something to think about

PFD Announce Time?

In reply to your question(s), they usually announce the amount between 8 and 10 p.m.. Also, yes, I believe you will be able to watch it. If you can't, it will definitely be on the 10 pm news. If my memory is correct though, what they do is during the 10 pm news break on Channel 2, when they get ready to announce the amount, they interrupt the broadcast, and go straight over to the PFD Meeting room where you get it as it's told. That is unless they have changed the way they did it since last year. LOL

PFD Knowledge...

Yeah, but you know how the government is. They always know everything, then are great at hiding it. It's like if they tell you early, they might lose all the interest on the $$ until the checks are distributed or something. You know how crooked they government (not mentioning any names..lol) is and has been.

PFD Amount?

I hear that amount is going to be in the range of $1,100. Looking at how the channel two news group calculates it, they seem to be pretty close. They are usually only off anywhere from $10 to $20 usually. So yeah, they are close to what I have heard they will be.
