How deep were you fishing? I went halibut fishing there last spring, but didn't have much luck. The current was too strong to hold our anchor near the powerline. But man, the scenery made up for the lack of luck.
I hooked him in about 185'. We didn't get anything but crab bites in shallower water. We also had trouble dragging anchor. I think we had to pull it and move a couple times before it held where we wanted to fish.
Checking bait wasn't much fun either. We had to use a lot more weight than we were used to to keep our line on bottom.

50 something
Caught a 50+ pound Halibut in Tutka Bay May 17th. Other than a skate that was the only catch of the day for the six of us fishing.
