The LGBTQ Youth Interns comprises Eliza McGownd, Rechelle Houston, Hannah Gershel and Troy Walters. Together they engaged in a youth-led community assessment and developed an interactive training for adults to improve program quality to support the equality of LGBTQ teen experiences in youth-serving agencies.

The interns trained more than 90 adult youth workers from 30 local agencies and were able to help improve relationships and communication between adults and LBGTQ youth.

The Spirit of Youth Teen Advisory Council made their selections for the 2014 Spirit of Youth Awards early this month. Twenty-two teens and youth groups from across the state will be honored at the 16th Annual Spirit of Youth Awards Banquet in April.

Award categories range from Media & Technology to Faith-Based Service.
