Clicking around the series of tubes today after the news broke that the Alaska Aces traded for former Aces center Alexandre Imbeault, couldn't help but notice all the Alaska connections in the Austrian league where Imbeault briefly played to start the season.

One of his teammates with Slovenia-based Olimpija Ljubljana was former Aces center Brock McBride, who is tied for second on that circuit in points with 6-15--21 and +13 totals in 13 games. He's also tied for first in the league in plus-minus.

The league leader in goals-against average and save percentage is none other than former Aces goaltender Jean-Philippe Lamoureux, who owns 2.15 and .943 totals in 11 games for Villacher SV. (Mrs. Blog does not fondly recall JP's 2008-09 season with the Aces -- JP propelled them to Game 7 of the Kelly Cup Finals, and by the time the playoffs rolled around she felt like the Aces were hogging The Blog. The Blog came home one playoff night and, in answer to a question, said the Aces won by shutout, and she referred to JP as "that little MFer.'' The next round, another JP shutout prompted this from Mrs. Blog: "What is even doing in this league?'' Good question).

And former Aces forward Alex Leavitt, 1-3--4 and -1 in nine games.
