This is the 10th season of Alaska Aces hockey in the ECHL and tonight's game against the Utah Grizzlies marks the 38th two-game home series the Aces have played at Sullivan Arena.
In the previous 37, they've never lost both games in regulation. That streak is on the line tonight because the Grizzlies won the Aces' home opener 5-2 on Friday.
Granted, three-game home series are much more common that two-game sets because it makes more sense financially for opponents to travel all this way and get a three-game bang for the puck.
Still, interesting stat. (Of course, The Blog would say that since he just killed a bunch of time looking it up).
In any event, the worst the Aces have ever done in a two-game series at Sullivan is a loss and a shootout loss. That happened Jan. 14-15, 2005, when they fell 2-1 to Fresno in the first game and lost 2-1 in a shootout in the series finale.
