Spent some time watching an NCAA Rules Video today, and it was decently interesting -- not spellbinding, but not something you'd watch and think, Geez, that's 25 minutes of my life I'll never get back.

Contact to the head remains a point of emphasis, and the video shows several examples of behavior that will not be tolerated.

More goals could potentially be allowed in cases where the net is knocked off its pegs. If the shooter is unleashing his shot or about to and a defending player knocks off the net, tough luck for the defenders because there's a good chance that a puck fired into the net will count as a goal.

As far as when the puck goes in off an attacking player's skate, that will be allowed as long as their is no evident kicking motion. Basically, when in doubt, officials are encouraged to call it a goal.

Teams that commit a hand pass in the defensive zone will not be allowed to change players for the ensuing face-off.

In overtime, 4-on-4 is an option, but the default is 5-on-5. The Blog says bring on 4-on-4 -- he likes in the NHL and ECHL.

Beginning in 2013-14, the two-ref, two-linesmen system is the law.

And the Rules Committee says goal judges in the two-ref, two-linesmen system are optional, though still recommended.
