(Anchorage, AK) - The Division of Parks and Outdoor Recreation (DPOR) is inviting interested parties to apply for two vacancies on the Snowmobile Trails Advisory Council (SnowTRAC).

One of the vacant positions represents the Anchorage area and the other represents the Fairbanks area. The term for both vacant positions will expire March 1, 2013. The successful candidates may be considered for an additional three year term. In addition, DPOR will be looking to fill two more vacant positions coming open March 1, 2013; these positions will represent Fairbanks and the Mat-Su/ Copper River Basin regions and be standard three year terms.

SnowTRAC board members assist the division director by providing a diverse and informed analysis of grant proposals and by making funding recommendations for the Snowmobile Trails Grant Program. This statewide grant program provides reimbursable, matching grant funds for trail easement acquisition, development and maintenance of trails and trail-related facilities for snowmobile use. The division is seeking individuals with special knowledge, experience, and interest in snowmobile use and in grant-funded programs. Board members serve a three-year term and meet in person a minimum of one time per year in Anchorage; they may participate in quarterly teleconferences or as necessary. Transportation to and from the meeting in Anchorage, meals, and hotel, are paid for with the administrative portion of the Snowmobile Registration Fund.
