(Anchorage) - The Board of Forestry will meet on Wednesday and Thursday, August 15-16, 2012, beginning at 8:30 a.m. The meeting will be held in Palmer at the Division of Forestry, 101 Airport Road, in the training room.
The agenda includes reports and updates on wood energy projects, the Alaska Timber Jobs Task Force, and the previously proposed legislation establishing a Susitna State Forest.
The meeting will be teleconferenced both days in Anchorage in the Division of Forestry’s conference room, 550 W. 7th Ave., Suite 1450, and in Fairbanks at the Department of Natural Resources’ small conference room, 3700 Airport Way.
Public comment is scheduled to start at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday and 12 noon on Thursday.
The Board of Forestry will host an open house on the proposed Susitna State Forest on Wednesday evening, August 15, at 101 Airport Road in Palmer. The public is invited to attend the open house to meet the board members from 7-9 p.m. A short presentation and discussion on the proposed Susitna State Forest will take place at 7:30 p.m. The public is encouraged to ask questions or provide comments throughout the open house.
