Dog Blog

The Dog Blog is a community of ordinary dog lovers who have come together to discuss our extraordinary dogs. Each Monday, a new topic is introduced. If you've got an opinion, share it. If not, look for the current "anything goes" topic and introduce a discussion of your own. On Fridays, weigh in about your training questions and successes.

Anything goes: What's on your mind?

Use this space to discuss training issues -- brag about successes, lament setbacks or bounce a question off the group.

Rain, rain, go away. I was up especially late last night and suffered the consequences this morning -- the dogs started pacing at their normal time, and I wanted to sleep in.

To add insult to injury, when I finally stumbled out of bed, put on harnesses, grabbed toys and treats for our walk, I opened the front door to see a steady rain. In true wimp fashion, I pulled the plug on our walk temporarily. I didn't have the energy or time to put raincoats on the little dogs or go without and clean them up afterward.

It's tough to explain that to the dogs. I took them out back for a while to play on the agility equipment and show them that it was raining. Eddie decided he wanted none of it and stayed inside. Jillie went out and turned into a wet rat. Lucy wasn't appeased. She wanted a walk.

After entertaining Lucy and Jillie for a while, I went back in and played some nosework games with Eddie and Jillie. Thankfully, it took the edge off Eddie's boredom at least temporarily. I'm hoping for a break in the rain so I can tire him out as well.

What's up with your gang?
