The Anchorage Museum has announced winners of this year's Rarefied Light, annual juried exhibition. The highly competitive contest, organized by the Alaska Photographic Center, showcases fine art photography from Alaska.

Juror Cig Harvey of Rockport, Maine, selected 61 photographs from 641 submissions by 109 Alaska artists. She awarded Best of Show to Eagle River photographer Maggie Skiba for "Taurus," a pigment ink print on cotton rag. This is the second time Skiba has taken home Rarefied Light’s Best of Show award.

Honorable mentions were given to photographers Brian Adams, Laura Avellaneda Cruz, Oscar Avellaneda-Cruz, Hal Gage, Loren Holmes, Matt Johnson and Janice Parsley.

A display is posted here.

Rarefied Light will go up at the Anchorage Museum in October then travel to Fairbanks, Kenai and Kodiak.
