Cooper and Nordlund are new Chugach Electric directors

Chugach_CooperChugach_CooperIn other Chugach_NordlundChugach_NordlundSisi Cooper and Jim Nordlund were elected to three-year terms on the Chugach Electric Association board of directors. Election results were announced at the cooperative utility’s annual meeting in May. Steve Strait was also a candidate in the election.

About 15 percent of the Chugach members of record voted, with about a third of the votes cast via the Internet. It was the second year Chugach members were able to vote electronically. In 2010, Chugach and other cooperatives sought and received a change in state statutes to permit electronic voting.

Cooper is a Project Engineer for Doyon Emerald, LLC. Nordlund is the State Director for USDA Rural Development and an incumbent who has served on the board since 2006.

Chugach members also approved four proposed bylaw changes.

Immediately after the annual meeting, the board met to elect new officers to serve for the next year. Janet Reiser was elected board chair, Susan Reeves was elected vice-chair, Jim Henderson was elected secretary and P.J. Hill was elected treasurer.

Chugach is the largest electric utility in Alaska, providing power for Alaskans throughout the Railbelt through retail, wholesale and economy energy sales.
