A pair of Alaskans were selected today in the USHL's entry draft -- and both were picked by the Youngstown Phantoms.
Selected were center Ryan Schwalbe of Anchorage, who has been playing at Shattuck St. Mary's in Minnesota and is ticketed for Minnesota State-Mankato in 2013, and defenseman Alex Carle (the youngest of the three Carle brothers, all blueliners), who has been playing at Kimball Union Academy in New Hampshire.
