High school music students from all over the state of Alaska will give a program at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday in the East High School Auditorium. The solo musicians and ensembles have been judged in statewide competition and selected for this "Command Performance."
The showcase is an impressive example of the high level of talent among Alaska students. If past years' concerts are an indication, each number is a gem - or, as I think while sitting there, "The ALL play better than I do."
Adjudication started yesterday and continues today in the University of Alaska Anchorage Fine Arts Building. The public is welcome, but seating may be limited.
East High should provide ample seating for the Command Performance on Saturday. Admission is $10, $5 for students, and available at the door.
