This today from Anchorage police on a pair of unrelated sexual assault cases over the weekend. In the first case, two friends are accused of attacking incapacitated women they'd been drinking with at a Spenard hotel room. The second case involves a woman assaulted by a man who had been drinking with her roommate, police say.
Subject: Three Sexual Assault Suspects
Anchorage Police Department Special Victims Unit detectives affected the arrest of 3 suspects in 2 sexual assault cases over the weekend.
-- On 2-18-12, Ethmer Rader III, 43, was arrested and charged with Attempted Sexual Assault 2nd degree and his friend Lawrence Nicolaides, 33, was arrested and charged with Sexual Assault 1st degree, Sexual Assault 2nd degree and Tampering with Physical Evidence.
The charges stemmed from an alleged incident in which they met two females while drinking at the Gaslight Lounge. The females were transported to a Spenard hotel room where both were sexually assaulted while incapacitated. One victim awoke while she was being sexually assaulted and tried to get Nicolaides to stop the assault, which he did not. Nicolades, when taken into custody for evidence collection attempted to remove evidence from his body by cleaning his hands.
Both men were arrested without bail and were arraigned on 2-19-12.
-- On 2-18-12, Steven Kashevarof, 25, was arrested on charges of Sexual Assault 2nd degree, Attempted Sexual Assault 1st degree, and Sexual Assault 3rd degree. The victim told police that she had gone to bed in her residence while her roommate entertained Kashevarof who he had invited to the residence and who had been drinking in local bars. Kashevarof continued to drink with the victim’s roommate at their residence. The victim awoke later in the night to Kashevarof sexually assaulting her in her room.
He was arrested without bail and was arraigned on 2-19-12.
