St. Louis rapper Nelly visited Alaska last week to perform at Sullivan Arena, and that visit was originally supposed to include a meet-and-greet with military personnel stationed in Anchorage.

That meet-and-greet didn’t happen. When a number of Twitter users accused the rapper of bailing on the appointment, Nelly took to the social networking site to defend himself, saying that he was running a 102-degree fever the day after the show.

“I apologize 2all the troops and fam 2day n anchorage!been fighting off flu 4fewdays n it caught up2me!after my show sweating n going out!”

He was impressed with the stuffed bear at the airport, though.
