Singers needed: The award-winning Alaska Sound Celebration will compete in the Sweet Adelines International women’s chorus world championships in Houston, Texas one year from now and, to have a real shot at the title, they need at least 100 singers on the stage. So they’re launching a recruitment campaign on Tuesday, with a free six week course giving women a chance to improve their vocal skills. Musical auditions: Valley Performing Arts is holding auditions for its production of the musical “Nunsense II,” a sequel of the show about five theatrical nuns. Call for artists: Denali National Park and Preserves’ Artist-in-Residence Program is accepting applications from visual artists through Oct. 31. Applications and more information is available at nps.gov. Up to four artists will be selected to reside in the East Park cabin for 10 days, between June and mid-September. Artists will donate a piece of artwork inspired by their stay to the park’s collection and offer a public presentation for visitors upon the end of their residency.
