VISUAL ARTS
Call to artists: The Dorothy G. Museum in Wasilla is seeking bra-inspired art for “Brassieres to Nowhere,” an exhibit that will run Oct. 1 through Oct. 29 in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. A non-cash juror’s award will be given for five categories – mixed-media, painting, photography, prints and sculpture – as well as a people’s choice award. Entries can be submitted at the museum Friday, Sept. 17, and Saturday, Sept. 18, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Cover art needed: The Anchorage Rotary Club is publishing a cookbook and accepting submissions for cover art. The subtitle is “Recipes from the Top of the World,” and the cookbook will include “Wild Alaska” recipes, thus entries – photos, paintings or fiber art pieces – should represent that theme. The deadline for entries is Monday. All proceeds from the book will benefit the Rotary Polio Eradication Program. For more information, contact Cheryl Myers at cheryl.k.myers@gmail.com or 2276526.
