Troopers report no injuries in a three-vehicle accident involving Senate candidate Joe Miller early this morning.

“The trooper told me there was no only clearly at fault," troopers spokeswoman Megan Peters said in an e-mail. No one was cited.

This trooper report appears to say Miller's 2009 Chevy pickup rear-ended a truck that -- in turn -- rear-ended a car on Geist Road:

On 8/27/2010 at 0735 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a three car motor vehicle collision on Geist near Wilcox. Mark Alan Lewis, age 49 of Fairbanks, was rear ended by James Gregory Raisis, age 58 of Denali Park as he was stopped in the middle turn lane to turn left into Hutchinson high school. Prior to Raisis rear-ending Lewis, Raisis was rear ended by Joseph Wayne Miller, age 43 of Fairbanks. All drivers utilized their seatbelts and no one injured. All three vehicles sustained heavy damage.

“It was three cars,” Peters told the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner. “Two of them, they just weren’t paying attention and rear-ended each other.

A Miller campaign spokesman told the News-Miner that Miller was not one of the drivers at fault:

The former federal magistrate judge and Gulf War veteran was scheduled to argue in court Friday morning and had also agreed to be interviewed by the Wall Street Journal, according to campaign spokesman Randy DeSoto.

UPDATE: In hopes of talking to the trooper who investigated the accident, I sent Peters a list of questions this afternoon.

Here's what the trooper spokeswoman had to say:

Q. Was the first impact in this accident Joe Miller's vehicle rear-ending Gregory Raisis's vehicle?

A. It is unclear who actually hit who first. Thus, no citation.

Q. Any sign that any of the drivers weren't paying attention to the road? Were any distracted by smart phones or screen devices in their vehicle?

A. Trooper was not able to determine what transpired as the stories aren’t clear as to what occurred.

Q. Two be clear, which two drivers weren't paying attention? (Based on Peters' comments to the News-Miner.)

A. That was what the dispatcher had said. I wasn’t able to speak to the trooper until a bit later and he said no citation was issued as he couldn’t clearly determine what had happened prior to his arrival on scene.

Peters added:

And just in case you may ask the question: No, the trooper did not know at the time who Joe Miller was other than a man involved in a minor wreck.
