From Sean Cockerham in Anchorage –
Sarah Palin hasn’t made any campaign appearances to support Joe Miller for U.S. Senate but the former Alaska governor touted him today in one of her ubiquitous Facebook postings.
“Joe’s campaign needs to raise about $30,000 for a crucial final media buy. We can do it if we all pull together,” it says.
You can read Palin's full post here, including several attacks on Murkowski.
“Joe may be the underdog in this fight (because by using the power of a politician’s incumbency after being given her Senate seat by her father, Lisa Murkowski has outspent Joe six to one), but Alaskans see through this and are recognizing Joe’s ability to be a real leader,” Palin's Facebook says.
She makes reference to poll numbers the Tea Party Express is advertising today, which it says shows Murkowski leading with 46.9 percentage points to 35.39 for Miller, far closer than previous surveys by Alaskan pollsters Marc Hellenthal, Ivan Moore and Dave Dittman. The Tea Party Express says its poll was done earlier this week by Salt Lake firm RT Nielson, polling 300 Alaska Republican and undeclared voters.
I asked the Tea Party Express to send me the full poll but it hasn't. (Saturday update-- the group sent the poll over this morning.Click here to read it.)
Murkowski spokesman Steve Wackowski emailed in response to Palin's Facebook appeal that "Lisa was supported by her mentor and partner in the Senate, Ted Stevens. He hosted events, helped raise money, and actively campaigned for us. We'll take that over a thousand Facebook posts."
