The Met's 'Carmen'Today and Sunday, Opera Fairbanks will present "Don Giovanni" in Davis Concert Hall at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. In an attractive promotion, one of the sponsors, Design Alaska, is giving away tickets for two to the Nov. 12 production of "Carmen" at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City. The tickets come with round trip airfare and hotel accommodations. Patrons to the Fairbanks "Don" will be eligible to win the prize.
There's still time for buffs to get to Fairbanks for the Alaska production, which features several Met veterans in title roles with notable Alaskan talent joining the cast. Staging is by Gloria Marinacci Allen.
If you can't make it to UAF or NYC, you can still catch the Met's sizzling "Carmen" production on the big screen at Century 16 here in Anchorage, 6:30 p.m. July 28 and, for the hard core types, 10 a.m. on July 29.
BTW. The Met's splashy "Turandot" is featured at Century 16 on July 21 and 22.
