Singin' Sam Little: Tok trucker adds a musical note to the gubernatorial campaign.
Alaska has had a governor who dabbled in poetry and another who was a culinary artist - maybe the voters will be in the mood for a guitar-playing singer to step in as the state's chief executive.
At least that's what Singin' Sam Little is hoping. Little, who has an Anchorage mailing address and Wasilla phone number and some connection to Tok, is running on the slogan "We Need to Take Alaska Back" and the song "Truck Driver for Governor." Several of the photos at his website, http://www.samlittleforgovernor.com/home.html, show him standing next to a Peterbilt Truck with a white hat and six string guitar colored to look like the Alaska flag.
The website includes links to audio and video of Little performing some of his other songs, like "Move Outside (if you don't like the way we do things in Alaska)" and "(Let's have a) Healthcare Rebellion." There's also a lot of information about his platform positions, history, love of motorcycles, etc.
The guitar pickin', backed up by fiddle and pedal steel in some cases, is pretty good.
