Winger Evan Trupp of Anchorage scored an even-strength goal and a power-play goal, and set up Brad Malone's short-handed goal tonight to lead North Dakota to a 4-3 win over regular-season champion Denver in the WCHA Final Five late semi in St. Paul, Minn.
Trupp helped put the Fighting Sioux in the Saturday championship game against St. Cloud State, a 2-0 semi winner over Wisconsin.
North Dakota finished fourth in the 10-team league -- though, note that the Sioux traditionally finish seasons strong -- and St. Cloud State finished third. Denver won the league and entered tonight ranked No. 1 in the nation.
Trupp, a junior, owns 8-24--32 totals in 41 games.
North Dakota, St. Cloud State, Denver and Wisconsin will all earn NCAA tournament bids when the 16-team field is announced Sunday -- each club has a power ranking that guarantees it an NCAA berth.
