All things considered, the results for the idle Alaska Aces in ECHL National Conference play tonight worked out decently.
Utah lost 5-4 in Idaho, which keeps the Grizzlies below the Aces in the standings. And Ontario fell 6-3 at Bakersfield, which keeps Ontario below the Aces, too. Only tough result for the Aces -- Stockton's 7-2 win over visiting (and faltering massively) Victoria, which lifted the Thunder out of a fifth-place tie with the Aces, put the Thunder into a tie fwith Las Vegas or fourth and relegated the Aces to sixth in the eight-team conference.
So, as the Aces head into Thursday night's opener of a three-game series in Las Vegas, here's how the standings look in the National Conference, where eight teams are fighting for seven playoff spots.
Place, team, points, games remaining in parentheses:
1) Idaho, 93 points (10)
2) Bakersfield, 71 points (9)
3) Victoria, 68 points (8)
4) tie, Stockton, 67 points (10)
Las Vegas, 67 points (9)
6) Aces, 65 points (10)
7) Utah, 64 points (9)
8) Ontario, 63 points (9)
