John Angerer
Angela Wilds
Anchorage police have arrested a man wanted for murder in connection with the death of a woman whose body was found in Colorado in 2006.
John Michael Angerer, 40, is being held on a charge of second-degree murder following his arrest last week, police said.
Police say the badly decomposed, naked body of Angela Wilds was discovered near a shallow grave southwest of Lyons in the South St. Vrain Canyon in Colorado on June 4, 2006.
Investigators in Colorado linked Angerer to the death by DNA left at the crime scene, according to police.
Angerer, who was in custody at the Anchorage jail on a probation violation, was arrested Feb. 24 with bail set at $1 million, police said. He is awaiting extradition to Colorado for prosecution.
