The NHL got back to business in earnest tonight after the Olympic break, and some Alaskans prospered in the beginning of the push to the playoffs.
Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Matt Carle of Anchorage didn't rack any points in a 7-2 win at Tampa Bay, but he did go +5 with four shots on goal and played 24:24, the most of anyone in the match. On the other end, Lightning center Nate Thompson of Anchorage earned an even rating and unleashed five shots on goal in 13:55.
And New York Rangers forward Brandon Dubinsky of Anchorage, a third-year NHLer, tied his career high by bagging his 14th goal in a 4-1 win at Ottawa. Dubinsky was +1 with two shots in 18:35.
And although Montreal center Scott Gomez of Anchorage didn't get a point in a 4-1 win at Boston, he did go +1 with one shot in 17:12.
