UAF senior center Dion Knelsen -- who, by the way, is barely 21; he was 17 when he began playing college hockey -- is one of seven finalists for the Hockey Humanitarian Award.
And why not? The guy owns 17-21--38 totals in 34 games -- he blistered UAA for six points in a Governor's Cup sweep last weekend -- owns a 3.98 grade-point average, reads to kids, visits the elderly, sponsors a child in the Dominican Republic, teaches kids hockey, and, from all accounts, is very humble.
Even though he's Canadian -- Three Hills, Alberta - I believe he also has just about figured a way out of the U.S.' financial crisis, discovered a way we can hold back climate change while still developing resources, and is tinkering with some ideas about curing the common cold.
