From David Hulen in Anchorage --
How do Alaskans feel about former Gov. Sarah Palin? A new poll from Hays Research Group tries to answer that. Short version: A little more positive and a little less negative than when she left office last summer, and about the same as when Hays asked the same questions in November.
The poll shows Alaskans have very positive attitudes about Gov. Sean Parnell.
The new survey, conducted Jan. 25-26 with 400 Alaskans, shows Palin remains a polarizing figure. Those who said they felt "very positive" about Palin: 33 percent. "Very negative:" 31 percent. But 20 percent were "somewhat positive," for a total positive of 53 percent. "Somewhat negative" was less, 13 percent, for a total negative rating of 43 percent.

As Palin was leaving office last July, Hays used the same sample size and found Alaskans more split: 47.5 percent total negative, 46.8 percent total positive.
Hays' sample size is smaller than some statewide Alaska polls. But they're interesting because Hays is the the one publicly available poll that has consistently tracked Palin's popularity in Alaska since early in her term as governor, asking the same questions and using the same methodology.
Hays says the survey was conducted among households with at least one member who has voted in at least two of the last four state or local elections. Margin of error: about 5 percent.
