A Sleetmute man who attacked another person with a sharp-edged weapon early Wednesday was charged with attempted murder, according to Alaska State Troopers.
Colten Evan Zaukar, 19, is also facing charges of first- and fourth-degree assault, misconduct involving weapons, criminal mischief, vehicle theft and underage drinking, troopers said.
In a statement, troopers in Aniak said they were summoned to Sleetmute about 12:20 a.m. to a report of a man who had been attacked with either a hatchet or a knife. The victim was taken to Anchorage for treatment of his injuries, troopers said.
No further details were provided on the assault. A troopers spokeswoman said she was unable to find out more Wednesday.
Troopers said alcohol was involved in the domestic violence assault.
Zauker was booked into Yukon-Kuskokwim Correctional Center in Bethel where he was held without bail, troopers said.
