A Selawik man is facing a felony assault charge after allegedly punching a pregnant woman in the stomach during a drunken outburst, according to Alaska State Troopers.
James Howard Foxglove, 48, was arrested after troopers were dispatched to the scene Sunday about 8 p.m. to a report that the woman, seven months pregnant, had been struck in the stomach.
The woman was taken to Maniilaq Medical Center in Kotzebue for treatment.
Troopers say Foxglove was highly intoxicated and he resisted arrest. Another man, Carl Mack Fokglove, 51, of Selawik, was also at the scene and highly intoxicated; he challenged a trooper to a fight, troopers said.
Troopers subdued him and arrested him on charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
James Foxglove was charged with second-degree assault and resisting arrest.
Both men were booked into jail in Kotzebue without bail pending an initial appearance in court.
