Fresh off a 3-2 shootout win at Ontario on Friday night, the Aces again play the Reign tonight and close a six-game California road trip with a Sunday matinee at Stockton.
Those matches give the Aces opportunity on two fronts -- tonight's match can help them push Ontario, last in the eight-team National Conference farther into the basement, and Sunday's match can help their middle-of-the-pack standing, too.
(Just FYI, according to Aces spokesman Jack Michaels, Frank Doyle will start in goal tonight, with Scott Reid scheduled to to work Sunday's game against the Thunder).
Here's how the eight teams in the conference stack up headed into tonight's play, which involves all eight clubs. Remember, only one team will be eliminated at the end of the regular season.
Following are each teams points in the standings, followed by how many games it has played, with a line in there to indicate the team (Ontario) currently out of playoff position:
Idaho -- 58 points (41 games)
Bakersfield -- 55 points (41 games)
Victoria -- 52 points (45 games)
Stockton -- 44 points (42 games)
Alaska -- 44 points (43 games)
Las Vegas -- 40 points (42 games)
Utah -- 40 points (41 games)
----------------------------------
Ontario -- 39 points (43 games)
