The Alaska Native Heritage Center has selected ten writers to participate in the year-long Alaska Native Playwrights Project. Writers Phillip John Charette, Lisa Marie Heitman-Bruce, Kahlil Hudson, Martha Jane Jack, Joan Kane, Maureen Mayo, Lucas Rowley, Susie Silook, Holly Stanton and Kavelina Torres.

Acting as mentors are five Native American writers who have had their plays produced: Diane Benson, Jack Dalton, Diane Glancy, Terry Gomez and Joy Harjo. Playwriting projects will get under way with a five day writing intensive at the end of this month. The finished scripts will receive staged readings at Cyrano’s in November.
