Every year I make a few concrete resolutions, and then others that have lingered in my subconscious pop up here and there a few months afterward that I add to my collection. So, I guess that means I'm not a one-resolution maker. I like to cover all of my bases and make changes in every aspect of my life.
My motto is to be "stronger, smarter, and simply better than the year before." It may sound a little vague to some, but I know the true meanings. Not proclaiming any one distinct promise out loud for the world to examine seems to make my ideas that much more special and appealing to attain. I don't pressure myself with exact dates or deadlines, but instead I go with instinct.
For example, last winter I took a month off from daily life and travelled SE Thailand for a month. Sure I looked up the best time to travel Asia, and it coincidentally worked out to be the best time to escape Alaska, but the dates didn't matter as much as just going for it! I felt like going, so I went. All the guidebooks in the world wouldn't have prepared me for what I really experienced. That brings me to another point- prepare all you want for your goals, but there will never be that black or white perfect moment to start, you must trust the unknown and just do it.
With one more year of growth under a person's belt, being enlightened in all facets should be the norm. January 1st is the universal clean slate. No matter how you perceive resolutions, whether you make them or not, you can't deny the refreshing vibe that exists on the first day of a new year. So what are your New Year Resolutions?
