Twas the morn before Christmas, when all through the House
All looked to the Senate – and gazed at the Fausts
Their bill was well hidden and crafted with care
In hopes that the public wouldn’t know what was there
The Dems were euphoric, all smug in their heads
With visions of socialism married with meds
Obama their chief had promised a cap
Of 1 trillion dollars – but that was a trap
For within four short years, there would be a great clatter
As the price went way up – and the money would scatter...
With nifty maneuvers the Senate passed quick
A health bill that was most assuredly a trick
‘O, Harry did parlay; his methods to blame
He whistled, he shouted, and called Dems by name
“Now Landrieu! now, Baucus! now, Conrad and Harkin!
On Begich! on Sanders, on Dorgan and Nelson!
To the top of the Pork, to the altar of Baal
Now make em pay! make ‘em pay! Make ‘em pay all!”
A bundle of toys Reid had on his back
He looked liked a swindler just opening his pack
His goodies were millions for those who were nice
Medicare, Medicaid – it all had a price
And with a wink of his eye and a twist of his tongue
Harry bought votes -- with pure public funds
He gave to his party, for it was his work
To fill all their stockings -- it was a nice perk
And after the buyoff, Harry rendered some prose
About justice and rightness; ‘O, it was quite gross
Then he sprang to his chair and the Dems gave a whistle
Even though they had sold out their votes for a thistle
But... I heard Reid exclaim, ‘fore he was voted from sight
“Redistribute to all -- for I've won this great fight!”
