Superfluous Points

And now it’s time for… Superfluous Points.

54 points for… Political Waltzing.
Harry Reid engineers a compromise regarding the public option. It still keeps the Feds firmly in control of the private insurance companies (allowing Reid’s liberal base to vote for it, without looking moderate), while officially, diminishing the public option (allowing Reid’s moderate base to vote for it, without looking liberal).

4 points for… Charades!
The best part about Reid’s maneuver: it’s all meaningless. The final health care bill will be completely rehashed by a committee of House and Senate partisans. And make no doubt about it: Pelosi will shove the full-fledged public option into the final bill.

1 point for… What beliefs? It’s about health care, darn it!
Harry Reid – a pro-life Democrat – defeats an amendment that would have blocked federal funds from being used for abortions. Mr. Reid states that, in any case, federal funds won’t be used for abortions… Right. And federal dollars used for abortion insurance will from “different” federal funds?

2 points for… Irony.
"This is a health care bill. It's not an abortion bill," Reid said. Ya… Remind the pre-natal baby that it’s all about health care…

2012 points for… The Gloomy Globe Awards
In the new category of Apocalyptic Art, Gore’s syrup-laden poem about a heat-ravaged world, battles 2012’s nightmare prophesy. Both pieces of art involve mass hysteria. Both portend unspeakable despair. Both have a cult-like following of believers. (The winner will not be known until Solstice evening, three years from now. Stay tuned.)

-45… well, +88 points for: Intense wording
China agrees to cut 45% of its “carbon intensity” by 2020. Sounds great. Until you realize that “carbon intensity” is simply a percentage of overall CO2 output. So, under their plan, China will get to increase their carbon emissions by 72-88% by 2020 – while still sounding the green trumpet.

.101 points for… Economic Suicide 101.
In an attempt to force Congress to pass a cap and trade bill, President Obama has ordered the EPA to unilaterally cut emissions. Great idea…
Order emissions to be capped. Store the carbon underground. Add in "We are the World" soundtrack. And Abracadabra, no more global warming.

Reality Points: The technology to store carbon dioxide is still in its infancy. And it’s incredibly expensive. Sen. Lisa Murkowski, wisely stated that the EPA’s mandate would be "a blunt instrument that will severely hamper our attempts to bolster the economy and get Americans back to work."

93 points for… What? They can hack these contraptions?
The TSA posts a 93-page document
about their screening procedures. They blacked out the most sensitive parts. Loe and behold, someone hacked into the TSA sight and splurged the details about the TSA’s capabilities all over the internet... It might be time for a resurgence of carrier pigeons...

3 points for… Call AAA for assistance
Because of spend-happy Legislative and Executive branches, and a $7.17 trillion national debt, investors are warning that the United States’ Aaa credit rating is in jeopardy . (See also: Who Could’ve seen this coming?)

11.2 trillion points for… Good Question. Where are these points coming from?

Answer: From the same place where Congress finds money to pay for health care, stimulus packages, etc.
