Strong bodies: fitness & health

This blog will cover all city and statewide bodybuilding competitions and the out-of-state guest posers. Weight-loss success stories from local people, features/bios on bodybuilding, fitness and figure competitors, coverage of fad diets. Nutritious recipes and reviews on local gyms and health food stores. I would also like to cover Adult/Childhood Obesity in America and specifically,Alaska. Weight-lifting techniques/safety as well as the benefits for women. This is just a general idea, as the blog will be constantly evolving.

Grapefruit smoothie

Grapefruit is an awesome fruit, packed with lots of vitamin C and the ability to keep blood sugar levels low and body fat at bay. As much as I love grapefruit, the tedious nature of peeling and eating it gets on my nerves. I discovered the solution one fine day when after purchasing a large bag from Costco. I came home to realize that most of the bag needed to be consumed immediately because the grapefruit were RIPE! I was bummed, but rather than let them go bad, I blended a few up with some ice to make a delicious smoothie.

If I'm going to drink my fruit, I don't want any added sugar- but since grapefruit can be a little tart, I add stevia sweetener and a packet of Emergen-C with about 4 ice cubes and blend until the ice cubes are no longer recognizable. I keep the consistency thick because it's more filling and fits all in one glass at a time. It's simple, not fancy- and full of vitamin C to keep your immune system strong. Give it a try.
