Strong bodies: fitness & health

This blog will cover all city and statewide bodybuilding competitions and the out-of-state guest posers. Weight-loss success stories from local people, features/bios on bodybuilding, fitness and figure competitors, coverage of fad diets. Nutritious recipes and reviews on local gyms and health food stores. I would also like to cover Adult/Childhood Obesity in America and specifically,Alaska. Weight-lifting techniques/safety as well as the benefits for women. This is just a general idea, as the blog will be constantly evolving.

Finding your Zone

Comments (0) |

There exists a state of mind where you lose track of time, overcome mental blockage and outside noise and give full concentration to the task set before you. The task can be playing a sport or it can be simply doing the dishes, but the state of mind is known as being in the "zone" or experiencing "flow" in the world of psychology. A task becomes almost effortless while in the zone.

"The zone is your ability to perform at your highest level in whatever domain of life. It is not a phenomenon exclusive to sports; it exists in every endeavor to which men and women apply it." -Michael Lardon, M.D.

I have always known about being in the zone and have felt it many times in my life; while working out, writing or doing other creative things, but a few months ago I decided I would like to know more. I discovered the book, "Finding your zone" by Michael Lardon, M.D. and decided to investigate this amazing state of mind further. I found the book to be very helpful and would recommend it to anyone craving enlightenment in all aspects of life.

The following are 10 lessons, according to Michael Lardon suggested to help you find your zone:

Lesson 1: Dreams (focuses on paying more attention to messages in our dreams).
Lesson 2: Be prepared to overcome the odds
Lesson 3: Transform desire into will
Lesson 4: Trust your brain, keep it simple, and stay positive
Lesson 5: Stay in the now and be in the process
Lesson 6: Manage your emotions and thoughts
Lesson 7: Keep your motivation pure
Lesson 8: Acceptance and faith conquer fear
Lesson 9: Build confidence and win
Lesson 10: Perform under pressure
