This blog will cover all city and statewide bodybuilding competitions and the out-of-state guest posers. Weight-loss success stories from local people, features/bios on bodybuilding, fitness and figure competitors, coverage of fad diets. Nutritious recipes and reviews on local gyms and health food stores. I would also like to cover Adult/Childhood Obesity in America and specifically,Alaska. Weight-lifting techniques/safety as well as the benefits for women. This is just a general idea, as the blog will be constantly evolving.

I competed in my first bodybuilding competition as a senior at East High in 2000 and after winning the overall title, bodybuilding and fitness became my passion. I've been a NASM certified personal trainer since 2004 and I love helping people achieve their goals with fitness and proper nutrition. My overall bodybuilding titles include: Ms. Anchorage 2006 and The Anchorage Crystal Cup 2007. I have lived in Anchorage since 1988.

Alaskafit Productions put on a great show Saturday night at the Egan Center for the 2009 Crystal Cup. I had the privilege of volunteering backstage for both the prejudging and evening show, helping contestants apply Dream Tan and oil, pump up and practice their posing. It was a great vibe backstage and an entertaining show all around. Unfortunately, the female bodybuilding category had no competitors. This is an ever dwindling division for some reason and I hope women's bodybuilding can be revived in the near future.

Toney Freeman, who placed 8th in the prestigious Mr. Olympia contest last month, was the guest poser for the show and in addition to having an awesome physique, he is an all around nice guy! No surprise there, all of the guest posers Alaska gets are great people who are always happy to be here and even offer generous feedback to the competitors. Toney is no exception and will be here for the week offering his personal training services at World Gym and Powerhouse. Professional bodybuilders are celebrities in the sport of physique competition, so getting to meet one is like the average person getting to meet Madonna or Bret Favre- just in case you were wondering!
