Anchorage police may have stumbled upon the most honest person in Anchorage Tuesday.
Leslie Lorentzen walked into the restroom at the Midtown Barnes and Noble Booksellers about 10 a.m. and found a bank envelop stuffed with $3,978, according to police.
Police say she called them right away and turned the cash over — all of it.
A few minutes later, the owner of the money, Katherine Nelson, contacted the management of the store “horrified at loosing that much,” according to police. She had apparently just come from the bank and either dropped or left the envelope while using the bathroom, police Lt. Dave Parker said.
“It’s all legitimate,” he said.
Police officer Jon Gallen reunited money with owner after their short separation.
