iPhone Houseplants 411 AppiPhone Houseplants 411 AppIn exploring the iTunes apps store for iPhone apps, I've come across a number of useful applications for household management. We could all use a little bit of that.

1. WalletZero (Free) - If you have a wallet full of membership and affinity cards such as BestBuy, Safeway and Blockbuster, you can use WalletZero instead. The application produces bar codes for your memberships and store clerks can scan the bar code with their scanning gun to access your membership information.

2. Groceries - This application by Sophiestication Software is pricey at $4.99 you can email lists or import lists from email, keep track of recent items purchased and favorite items, customize units, and organize groceries in "aisles."

3. BigOven - With over 160,000 recipes via BigOven.com, you'll never run out of recipe ideas again. Other free recipe apps include AllRecipes.com and Epicurious Recipes. A paid recipe app that seems handy is 4 ingredients ($4.99) which covers over 400 recipes that require only four ingredients in total.

4. iOwn ($4.99) - Use this app as a secure way to list things that you own, such as for insurance claims in case of damage or theft or to inventory collectibles.

5. Spincycle ($1.99) covers Household Task Management - Maintenance, Cleaning and Shopping.

6. 101 Tips ($0.99) - You can get 101 Vinegar Tips, 101 Baking Soda Tips, 101 Lemon Tips, just in case you didn't know what to do with that stuff.

7. Freezer Recipes ($1.99) These are recipes for preparing meals when you have time and then popping them in the freezer to thaw out, heat and serve when you don't have time. Like In a Snap Meatloaf and Crispy Chicken From the Freezer.

8. Food Substitutes ($2.99) Are you in the middle of cooking or baking and suddenly realize you are out of something? Use this handy app to find an appropriate substitute for herbs, spices, seasonings, baking ingredients, dairy products and more.

9. Houseplant 411 ($1.99) Everything you ever needed to know about houseplants - including your own - but were afraid to ask. Find out the best environment for each plant and then create a list of plants you own and learn how to diagnose plant problems.
