Karaoke Apps

I am a sucker for Karaoke. And with winter coming quickly, there is few better ways to spend a cold Alaskan winter's night or dark day than cranking out some tunes and belting them out. When not in Anchorage (where Al's Karaoke is my venue of choice), I have my own Karaoke system at home and there seems to be semi-regular Karaoke in Tok, however, I still haven't figured out the schedule.

But there are also Karaoke sites online and also some for your iPhone so you can indulge your Karaoke habit and even share the results with others. Here are just a few.

MySpace Karaoke
Yes, one of the leading social networks has it's very own Karaoke channel where you can sing along and share music. You have to download their recorder software to use this site.

RedKaraoke
Record and share karaoke tunes on this exclusively Karaoke social network. This site had some tech glitches when I tried it - such as my camera didn't work and when I recorded it, the music and my voice weren't in sync but I chalk that up to DSL speeds in Tok.

For the iPhone, you can try:

MyKaraoke ($1.99)
This is the one I have on my iPhone. Updates frequently with new popular Karaoke songs.

iKaraoke ($5.99)
You can import your own songs or use the ones in the system. You can also invite Facebook friends to your Karaoke network.

While you're looking at Karaoke apps ($0.99), check out Karaoke Lists to help you organize your favorite Karaoke tunes for your next singing extravaganza as well as your friends' tunes. You can include the song numbers from your favorite Karaoke venue or DJ to quickly request your specialties. I can't tell you how many times I forget what songs I was hoping to sing as I'm flipping through the song books.
