Alaskans At Select 16s Kick Off A Month of USA Hockey Camps

Finally, at long last, I'm getting around to recognizing the boys who have been selected to participate in USA Hockey Select Development Camps this summer, the first of which (Select 16s) closed today in Rochester, N.Y., with some nice performances by the Alaskans.

Forwards Tanner Sorenson (3-2--5 totals in 5 games) and Austin Wuthrich (1-4--5 in 5) of Anchorage rocked some nice stats, and ditto for forward Jared Linnell of Fairbanks (2-2--4 in 5). Goaltender Stephon Williams (3.60, .888) of Fairbanks, forward Tayler Munson of Fairbanks, defenseman Brian Cooper of Anchorage and blueliner Branden Fisher of Soldotna were also at Selects.

Still to come are Select 17s, 15s and 14s, all in Rochester later this month. In all, 24 Alaska boys were invited to various Select camps. Here's the rest o' the crew, and congrats to all -- being chosen for these camps is a good sign for the kids, and who knows, maybe the next Gomez is among these, and if so, remember boys, I'd be grateful if you'd always return my calls and be very quoteable:

Select 17s -- Defensemen Chase Van Allen, Trace Strahle and Zack Rall; forwards Brad Schierhorn, Matthew Friese, Ryan Cole and Scott Wamsganz.

Select 15s -- Defensemen Joshua Hanson, Justin Woods and Truman Reed; forwards Ryan Schwalbe and Sidney Ilse; goalie Ryan Lund.

Select 14s -- Defenseman Erik Schulte; forward Kenneth Hausinger; goalies Owen Carlson and Talon Miller.
