Oher business stories grabbed my attention this week and prevented me from updating the Pebble Blog as much as I would have liked.
But here are a few quick updates.
On Thursday, the Alaska Public Offices Commission agreed to investigate an election law complaint filed by Art Hackney against the Alaskans Against the Mining Shutdown, a ballot measure group; the Council of Alaska Producers, a coalition of mining companies; and NANA Regional Corp., a regional Native corporation. You can read Lisa Demer's story about the complaint and click to read the complaint here.
Last week, APOC filed its own election law complaints against Hackney, Michael Dubke, a Virginia political consultant, and Richard Jameson, of the Renewable Resources Coalition. The three new complaints are in response to a recent APOC staff investigation. The investigation concluded that they (and other individuals and groups already being investigated by APOC - Bob Gillam, Alaskans for Clean Water, the Renewable Resources Coalition, and Americans for Job Security) broke the law while raising money for the pro-Measure 4 ballot compaign.
