Dog Blog

The Dog Blog is a community of ordinary dog lovers who have come together to discuss our extraordinary dogs. Each Monday, a new topic is introduced. If you've got an opinion, share it. If not, look for the current "anything goes" topic and introduce a discussion of your own. On Fridays, weigh in about your training questions and successes.
Your host: Mike Lewis is a little-dog nerd and the proud owner of Eddie and Jillian, a pair of Yorkies who think they're Labs, and Rusty, an elderly Lab who thinks he's a Yorkie.

Does your dog have any unusual fears?

Comments (0) |

akvalleygirl74's recent post about her Australian shepherd developing a sudden fear of something related to her daily walk makes me wonder how many of our dogs have similar issues.

Eddie, surely, has several, with his fear of fireworks and other strange noises being perhaps the most debilitating.

On online acquaintance once told me about her adult Rottie developing a strange fear of blimps. If she saw one in the sky, she'd bark and shake and go into a tizzy. Funny, perhaps, but the woman had hopes of training the dog to be a service dog, and that behavior set her plans back because she lived in an area that saw blimps frequently.

So 'fess up. What is your dog afraid of? How does the behavior affect his or her life or training? Have you had any luck addressing those fears?

Bonus points to the most unusual.
