Type: Death Investigation - Boat Grounding
Text: On 6-8-09, at about 0833, Ketchikan AST received a report that the
F/V ALLMAN JOY was aground on west Kuiu Island near Gedney Harbor about
130 miles south of Juneau. A Good Samaritan boarded the vessel and
reported a deceased male on board. The USCG helicopter responded from
Air Station Sitka and confirmed that the man was deceased. He was
identified as Frederick E. Washburn, age 72 of Sequim, WA. Washburn was
transported to Sitka. Though no foul play is suspected, the state's
Medical Examiner's office has requested that the body be shipped to
Anchorage for exam.

Text: On 6-7-09 at 1840 hours AST in Palmer arrested Thomas Stibbs, age
38, of Wasilla for DUI after he was contacted at a residence in Wasilla
during a disturbance investigation. He was subsequently arrested,
transported and booked at MatSu Pretrial Facility and held on $1000.00
bail.

Type: MVC-D, Hit and Run
Text: On 6/7/09 at approximately 1900 hours Alaska State Troopers
responded to a report of a hit and run motor vehicle collision on 49th
State Street and the Mat-Su Borough Landfill in Palmer. Investigation
revealed a 200 black and orange Chevy pickup(plate DTY992) was driven
into the metal fence at the Landfill causing approximately $2,000.00 in
damage. The driver fled the scene. Damage to the vehicle was estimated
at $1,500.00. Anyone with information regarding this case is encouraged

Type: Warrant Arrest
Text: On 6-8-09 at approximately 0040 hours Alaska State Troopers
responded to a residence on Tidal Way in Wasilla for the report of a
disturbance. Investigation revealed that Curtis R. Eschenbacher Jr.,
age 33 of Wasilla, had fled the residence prior to AST arrival and that
Eschenbacher had a outstanding arrest warrant for failure to comply with
conditions of release. State Troopers with the assistance of K-9 Roelle
were able to locate Eschenbacher hiding in a wooded lot near by.
Eschenbacher was arrested for the warrant and transported to Mat-Su
Pre-Trial where he was remanded into custody and held on $500.00 bail.

Text: On 6/7/09 at approximately 2322 hours, Alaska State Troopers
received a report that a tenant was threatening to kill another tenant
at a residence off of Mayflower Lane Wasilla. Investigation revealed
that 51 YOA Steven M. Thomas of Wasilla, threatened to kill his neighbor
and challenged him to fight. Thomas was arrested and transported to
Mat-Su pretrial Facility were he was remanded for Disorderly conduct.
Thomas' was later released on his recognizance.

Type: Theft from residence
Text: On 6/8/2009 at approximately 1341 hours Alaska State Troopers
responded to a theft-after-the-fact at a residence on Paige Circle in
Wasilla. Investigation revealed the owner of the residence had a number
of electronic items to include a Wii game console and a digital camera.
Items stolen from the residence are valued at approximately $1500.

Type: Driving With Suspended Operator's License
Text: On June 7, 2009 at 2:02am, Alaska State Troopers conducted a
traffic stop on a 34 year old Joseph Minock of Bethel for failing to
stop at a posted stop sign. Investigation revealed that Minock's
operator's license was suspended. Minock was arrested and transported
to the Yukon-Kuskokwim Correctional Center.

Type: Violate a Domestic Violence Protective Order
Text: On 6/3/09, at approximately 1548 hours, VPSO Dorothy Alexie
contacted Benjamin Polty, 48 of Pilot Station. Polty was arrested for
being inside a residence in violation of a protective order. Polty was
transported to Bethel and remanded to the Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional
Center. Bail is set at $1000.00 and CATPC.

Type: Natural Death
Text: On 06/06/2008, at approximately 2300 hours, the Alaska State
Troopers in Bethel received a reported from the Village of Mekoryuk, who
reported that Nancy Kiokun (Age 95 of Mekoryuk) died as a result of
apparent Natural causes. Kiokun suffered from a myriad of on going
health complication. The State of Alaska Medical Examiners Office was
notified of the incident/circumstance and released the remains of Kiokun
to the family for the funeral. Alcohol was not a factor in this incident
and there was no foul play.

information that an individual in Akiak had several old personal checks

Text: On 6-3-09 the Alaska State Troopers in King Salmon received a
report of a Domestic Violence assault that had occurred in the village
of Nondalton. Investigation revealed that Timothy Hobson, age 28, of
Nondalton had assaulted his live-in girlfriend, age 30. The victim and
her two small children were flown to Anchorage by the Anchorage S.A.F.E.
where they stayed with relatives. Troopers were unable to locate Hobson
in the village and a warrant will be issued for his arrest.

Location: Pile Bay

Type: Fuel Spill
Text: On 6-6-09 approximately 1930 hours, the Alaska Wildlife Troopers
Iliamna were notified of a fuel spill on the road between Williamsport
and Pile Bay, near Iliamna Lake. A fuel trailer that had been towed from
Williamsport on Cook Inlet was parked in the vicinity of the Iliamna
River. The dolly legs on the trailer collapsed and punctured the tank.
Approximately 2200 gallons of diesel fuel spilled onto the ground before
crew members were able to transfer the remaining fuel into another tank.
Troopers contacted the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) to
report the spill and responded to the scene to assist in the containment
of the spilled fuel. Absorbent mats were put down and most of the fuel
was contained into a small area. The DEC took over coordinating the
cleanup effort. DOT and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement were also
notified and the incident is under continuing investigation.

Location: Pilot Station
Case number: 09-46772
Type: Drowning
Text: On 6/6/09, at approximately 0140 hours, Alaska State Troopers were
notified of an apparent drowning in Pilot Station. Subsequent
investigation revealed that the decedent, Stuart V. Heckman, 43 of Pilot
Station had traveled with four others to pick up a friend in St. Mary's.
While in St. Mary's one of the occupants of the boat purchased a bottle
of alcohol for a $120.00. On the return trip to Pilot Station Heckman
and the others engaged in drinking the bottle of alcohol. Upon arrival
at Pilot Station all of the occupants were inebriated when they docked
the boat. Heckman and one other occupant stayed behind and passed out
in the boat. Sometime later Heckman's body was found face down directly
behind the boat. Heckman was unable to be resuscitated. Heckman was
wearing a life jacket. The purchaser of the alcohol would not reveal
the source. Alcohol was a major factor.

Text: On 5/30/09, at approximately 2245 hours, VPSO Alexie received a
report in Pilot Station of an intoxicated person operating a four
wheeler. Investigation revealed that Brandon Borromeo, 20 of Pilot
Station was highly intoxicated after being stopped on the four wheeler.
Borromeo was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence and
Minor Consuming. Borromeo was transported to the Yukon Kuskokwim
Correctional Center in Bethel.

Text: On 06/08/2009, at approximately 0915 hours, the Alaska State
Troopers in Bethel received a call from Goodnews Bay resident, Judith
Merrit (age 27 of Goodnews Bay) who reported that her husband Joseph
Merritt (age 27 of Goodnews Bay) and their 5 year old son, Bradley
Ulroan (age 5 of Goodnews Bay), were overdue from Bethel, via boat, and
had not arrived as planned in either Quinhagak or Goodnews Bay. Judith
stated Joseph and Bradley departed Bethel on 6/7/2009, at approximately
1300 hours, in a white and Yellow fiberglass boat (115hp motor) with
adequate clothing and a fair amount of food and supplies. Judith
informed Alaska State Troopers that Joseph and Bradley where going to
Quinhagak first, then to Goodnews Bay, but had never checked in to
Quinhagak. Search and Rescue efforts are currently underway for the two
parties. Alcohol is not reported to be involved in this incident.

Text: On 6/4/09, at approximately 1900 hours, Alaska State Troopers
received a report of a domestic assault that occurred in St. Mary's.
Investigation revealed that George Beans Jr., 23 of St. Mary's had
assaulted his girlfriend earlier in the week. Beans was arrested and
transported to the Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center in Bethel. Bail
is set at $2500.00 and a CATPC. Alcohol was not a factor.

Text: On 6/6/09, at approximately 1600 hours, VPO Curtis Francis of the
St. Mary's Police Department contacted Ivan Sipary, 28 of St. Mary's.
Sipary was operating a four wheeler while intoxicated. Alaska State
Troopers assisted VPO Francis with the investigation. Sipary was
arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence and a Probation
Violation. Sipary was transported to Bethel and remanded to the Yukon
Kuskokwim Correctional Center.

Text: On 6/8/2009 at 0304 hours, Alaska State Troopers stopped a 1998
Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Charles Edward Davis, age 51 of
Fairbanks, for traffic violation on 3rd St. at Forty Mile Ave.,
Fairbanks. Upon making contact with Davis, Davis was found to be
intoxicated. Davis failed field sobriety tests and was arrested for
DUI. Davis was subsequently remanded to the Fairbanks Correctional
Center.

Text: On 6/8/09 at 0640 hours, Rodney Vesper, the manager of Compeau's,
Inc., Fairbanks, reported the theft of four 4 wheelers, some apparel and
cash, total estimated value $39550., from the Compeau's business
sometime during the weekend. A window was forcibly opened to gain entry
to the business. Damage to this window was estimated at $200. The 4
wheelers are a red Outlander 400 Max XT 4X4, a red Outlander 800 XT 4X4,
a red Outlander 800 Max XT 4X4 and a yellow Outlander DS450 4X4. An

Text: On 6-8-09 at 0932 hours, the Alaska State Troopers received a
report from the State of Alaska Department of Transportation stating
that a traffic counter had been stolen from the area of Old Steese
Highway and Skyridge Road in Fairbanks. The counter was valued at
approximately $2,500. Investigation revealed the counter was taken
sometime between 1200 hrs on 6-7-09 and 0730 hrs on 6-8-09. Anyone with

Text: On 6-8-09 at approximately 1503 hours, Alaska State Troopers
responded to a report of a two vehicle collision at the intersection of
Badger Road and Peede Road in North Pole. Investigation revealed John
Stamatelos, age 59 of Fairbanks was driving a 2004 Ford F350, southbound
on Badger Road when he turned left at the intersection towards Peede
Road in front of a 1996 Toyota Corolla driven by Kurt Cordes, age 58 of
Fairbanks. A passenger of the Toyota, Shirley Paul, age 55 of Fairbanks
sustained injuries and was transported to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital.
All occupants reported wearing their seatbelts and the airbags in the
Toyota deployed. The Ford and Toyota were totaled. Alcohol was not a
factor.

Text: On 06-08-09, at approximately 0001 hours, AST received a report of
a large party at 34070 Silverweed in Soldotna where ATVs were seen
speeding to and from the residence. Upon AST arrival, several
individuals fled the rear of the residence. Aubrey M. Marcorelle and
Dixie D. Bird, both age 20 of Soldotna, were issued summonses to appear
in the Kenai District Court for charges of Minor Consuming Alcohol.
Kyle Grafton Horsley, age 24 of Soldotna, was arrested for Violating his
Conditions of release related to a Felony DUI charge by consuming
alcohol, refusing to provide a sample of his breath into a PBT, and not
being with his third party custodian. Horsley was remanded at Wildwood
without bail. The owner of the residence, Richard Douglas Grove, age 22
of Soldotna, was arrested for Furnishing Alcohol to Person's Under 21.
Grove was remanded at Wildwood with a $500 bail.

Text: On 06/08/09 at approximately 1444 Hrs, Alaska State Troopers
responded to a two vehicle collision near mile 3 of the Kenai Spur
Highway. Investigation revealed that a 1997 Nissan Pathfinder driven by
Arthur Goolsby Jr, age 49 of Kenai, was struck from behind while stopped
in a long line of traffic near mile 3 of the Kenai Spur Highway. The
Pathfinder was struck by a 1990 Nissan Maxima driven by Jeremy Narlock,
age 20, of Nikiski. A passenger in the Pathfinder was Nicole Childers,
age 36, of Soldotna. All parties involved were wearing seatbelts at the
time of the crash and sustained minor injuries. Members of Soldotna CES
responded to the scene to treat Goolsby for back pain. CES did not
transport any party. Narlock was cited for Failure to show proof of
Insurance and for Failure to Exercise Due Care to Avoid a Collision.

Location: Ivan River/ Cook Inlet
Case number: 09-47508
Type: Commercial Fish Closed Waters
Text: On 6-8-09 at 0900 hours Alaska Wildlife Troopers received an
anonymous wildlife safeguard tip that a set net vessel, operated by a
man with the last name Petranovich had an illegal load of King Salmon.
The caller stated that the boat would be arriving at the Ship Creek boat
Launch in 40 minutes form the West side of Cook Inlet. Wildlife Troopers
in Palmer responded and arrived at the Ship Creek Boat Launch at 0944
hours. A man Identified as Clayton N. Petranovich 65 YOA, of Chugiak, AK
was contacted in an aluminum set net skiff and admitted commercial
fishing in the waters of the Ivan River one mile upstream of its mouth.
Petranovich was subsequently issued a summons for Commercial Fishing in
the Closed Waters of the Ivan River. 13 Chinook salmon and Petranovich's
gill net were both seized as evidence. Petranovich was given a court
date for July 10, 2009 in the Anchorage District Court.

counts of SAM 2nd, and 5 counts of Possession of Child Pornography.
Vandenburgh was remanded to Wildwood Pretrial Facility.
