Wayne Anthony Ross rated as a judicial candidate

Palin's choice for attorney general, Wayne Anthony Ross, applied twice for appellate judgeships (2007, Alaska Supreme Court; 2008, Alaska Court of Appeals). He was not nominated by the Alaska Judicial Council either time.

Here are his scores from the poll of Alaska Bar Association members (1 = poor; 5 = excellent). The full documents (attached) have lots of survey cross-tabs that aren't all that interesting to a general reader.

2007 Survey for Supreme Court appointment:

Professional Competence 3.2
Integrity 3.5
Fairness 3.1
Judicial Temperament 2.7
Suitability of Experience for the vacancy: 3.0
Overall Rating 2.8
(Note: the overall rating is independent of the other ratings; not an average of them.)

In the 2008 Survey for Court of Appeal appointment, there was no change in his scores for Professional Competence, Integrity, Fairness or Judicial Temperament.

His Suitability of Experience score for the lower-ranking court position went up 0.1 points to 3.1 and his Overall rating went up 0.1 to 2.9.

These are very middling scores and probably help explain why he did not get nominated by the Judicial Council.
