From Don Hunter in Anchorage:
Eric Croft is launching his Anchorage mayoral campaign for real this week and hosting an open house tonight at his Midtown campaign headquarters.
A couple days ago, Croft announced that his campaign manager will be Heather Beaty, who served as the Democratic Party’s legislative campaign director last year. Former Begich mayoral and Senate campaign consultant Mark Putnam will work as a strategist for Croft, and the national public research firm Lake Research Partners will do polling.
The open house runs from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the campaign office, 545 E. Northern Lights Blvd.
Croft, a former state representative, is one of nine candidates who have filed letters of intent to run for mayor. The others are Merica Hlatcu, former Anchorage cop Paul Honeman, Jacob Seth Kern, Dominc S.F. Lee, Melanie K. Leydon, former state public safety commissioner Walt Monegan, Assemblywoman Sheila Selkregg and former Assemblyman Dan Sullivan.
The city’s official filing period for the race opens Jan. 30 and runs until Feb. 13.
