Location: Willow

Case number: 09-1340

Type: MVC-I vs. Moose

Text: On 1/6/09 at 0831 hours, AST responded to a motor vehicle
collision at mile 72 of the Parks Hwy. Investigation revealed that 41
year old Suzanne Dubbe of Willow hit a moose with her 2007 Chevy Aveo.
The driver was wearing a seatbelt and sustained only minor injuries. No
citations were issued.

Type: Warrant Arrest
Text: On 1-6-09 at 1320 hours, the Alaska State Troopers arrested Joel
Cummings (51 YOA of Wasilla) near mile 49 Parks Highway after he was
contacted in reference to his warrant. Cummings warrant was $500.00
cash/corporate with the original charge of DWLR. Cummings was booked at
the Mat Su Pre Trial Facility.

Location: Kodiak
Case number: 09-1260
Type: MVC-D / DUI-Drugs
Text: On 1/5/09 at approximately 1650 hours, Alaska State Troopers
responded to Spruce Cape Road and Benny Benson Drive for a report of a
motor vehicle collision. Investigation revealed that Abby Kinter, age
21 of Kodiak, was east bound in her SUV followed by Richard Hartman, age
47 of Kodiak, in his maroon 2003 Ford F150. Kinter came to a stop and
Hartman was unable to stop before colliding with the back of Kinter's
vehicle. Both vehicles suffered little to no damage. Both operators
and passengers in the vehicles reported wearing their seat belts and
reported no injuries. Further investigation revealed that Hartman was
operating his vehicle while impaired by a controlled substance. Hartman
was arrested for DUI, transported to Kodiak Police Department Jail, and
remanded where bail was set at $500.00 cash only.

Location: Nome

Case number: 08-105722

Type: Search and Rescue

Text: On 12/23/08, at approximately 2145 hours, the Alaska State
Troopers received a report of a 17 year old overdue motorist with three
minor passengers that left Nome at 1500 hours, and had not returned. A
hasty team was sent out and located the truck and its four occupants at
approximately 2330 hours, at 15 mile Kougarok Rd. The truck had been
stuck in a snow drift for approximately six hours and the occupants did
not have any winter gear. No injuries were reported. Nome AST would
like to thank the Nome Volunteer Fire Department for their quick
response that resulted in locating the juvenile driver and his youth
passengers. AST would remind drivers to be prepared for emergencies
during the winter months and have winter gear available in the case of a
break down or other emergency.

Location: Shungnak

Case number: 09-1342

Type: Assault 4th Degree - D.V. (x4), Reckless Endangerment - D.V.

Text: On 1/6/09, at 0212 hours, State Troopers in Kotzebue received a
report of a domestic violence assault in the village of Shungnak. State
Troopers responded to Shungnak and following an investigation they
arrested George C. Douglas, 40 yoa, of Shungnak after the investigation
revealed that he had assaulted several family members, three of which
are children. Douglas was transported to Kotzebue and remanded at the
Kotzebue Regional Jail where he was held without bail pending his
arraignment. None of the victims required medical attention. Alcohol
was involved with this incident.

Location: North Pole

Case number: 09-1122

Type: Motor Vehicle Collision

Text: On 1-5-09, at 1229 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a
single vehicle collision on Bradway Road near Woll Road, North Pole.
Investigation revealed Gregory J. Krisa, 23 of Fairbanks, was driving
his 1995 Ford Thunderbird sedan eastbound on Bradway Road. Krisa had
just past Woll Road and he accelerated his vehicle and then the vehicle
started to spin out of control and subsequently struck a row of mailbox
across the Fairbanks Northstar Volunteer Fire Department Station.
Krisa's vehicle sustained approximately $5,000.00 in damage. Krisa was
issued a citation for Basic Speed.

Location: Eielson AFB

Case number: 09-1323

Type: Motor Vehicle Collision

Text: On 1-6-09, at 0731 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to Mile
338 Richardson Highway, Eielson AFB, for a single vehicle collision with
a moose. Investigation revealed Ricky J. Ballard, 59 of Salcha, was
traveling north on the Richardson Highway in his 2006 Ford F150.
Ballard had dimmed his high beam lights to the oncoming vehicle when a
bull moose crossed the highway into the driver's side and Ballard's
vehicle. Ballard struck and killed the moose upon impact. Ballard's
vehicle sustained substantial front end damage and the windshield was
destroyed. Ballard and his wife, Vernita A. Ballard, 47 of Salcha, who
was a passenger, were not injured in the collision. The vehicle
sustained over $10,000.00 in damage and was towed from the scene. A
charity responded and salvaged the moose.

Location: Tyonek
Case number: 09-1384
Type: DV Assault
Text: On 01/06/09 at approximately 1030 hours the Alaska State Troopers
in Soldotna received a report of a domestic violence assault in the
village of Tyonek. Troopers flew to the village on 1/6/09, interviewed
the victim, and investigated the scene. The suspect fled Tyonek prior
to AST arrival and remains at large. Investigation is continuing.
