Catching Up With Last Season's Seawolves Seniors

Comments (0) |

Given the UAA Seawolves' ranking in consecutive weeks -- they're No. 15 in the USCHO.com/CBS College Sports Poll released today -- now is as good a time as any to check in on what the guys who were seniors last season are up to in their rookie seasons as pros.

Former captain Luke Beaverson, a defenseman, is with the ECHL's Florida Everblades after starting the season with the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League. Beav has one assist and is +1 in three games with Florida after registering one assist and a -3 rating in eight games with Rochester.

Former UAA forward Peter Cartwright of Anchorage is playing for the defending champion Arizona Sundogs in the Central Hockey League. He owns 5-5--10 totals and a +2 rating in 18 games.

Also in the CHL is former UAA winger Chris Tarkir, who is skating for the Wichita Thunder. He owns 4-3--7 totals, a -8 rating and a team-high 52 shots on goal in 18 games. Three of his goals have come on the power play.

And former UAA forward Merit Waldrop of Anchorage is with the Phoenix RoadRunners of the ECHL. He has one assist and a +1 rating in four games.

I'm not aware of former UAA forward Blair Tassone playing pro anywhere, but if you know otherwise, holler to dwoody@adn.com. (UPDATE: Never mind. Thanks to reader Tim Lufkin and someone with the screenname of pfunkmobile -- might be the same cat, for all I know -- I now know Blair is playing for the Pecoma Grizzlies in the Dutch Elite League. Looks like he's listed as a defenseman there, and his 4-6--10 totals in 13 games make him the club's fifth-highest scorer. Many thanks for the help, folks).
